About Us
Founded in 1926 in Henderson's Audubon District, we established the first Pentecostal Apostolic Church in the tri-state area under the name of “Independent Holiness Church”. During the Church’s early history, it was simply known as The Little Brick Church. The late Rev. Ira Hargis was Pastor of the Church for 35 years, and upon his death in June 1964, the late Rev. Herbert Hatfield served as Pastor until his death in November 1983. Since October 1984, Rev. Vernon Rigsby has served as Pastor.
Subsequently, the Church changed it’s name from One God Assembly to the Apostolic Bread of Life, upon Pastor Rigsby’s recommendation. On May 18th, 1987 the Church purchased 18.9 acres at 5872 Hwy 425 [current location], thus beginning the process of relocation for the purpose of expanding current and future outreach ministries. Two years later, on October 1st, 1989; after completing Phase I of our building program, we conducted the first service in our new “temporary” Sanctuary.
In October 1995; we completed Phase II by adding on an Educational wing. Our vision is to develop this 18.9 acres into a multi-purpose outreach complex; including Campground facilities, Dormitories, RV/Camper Hook-ups, a Christian School, and related projects and ministries. During our 85 year history, literally thousands of souls have been saved and filled with The Holy Ghost, countless lives have been redeemed, reconciled, restored, and revived by the power of God.
It is our intention to maintain the blessing of The Lord as we endeavor to promote Biblical principles to govern ourselves, so that we may advance in the will of God.
Therefore; we, being Pentecostal in faith and Apostolic in doctrine, affirm our belief that God’s people should be scrupulously and efficiently organized in order to fulfill the Great Commission, propagate the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and conduct our spiritual and business affairs according to the established principles contained in The Word of God. {Lk.1:1 , Rom.12:11 , Acts 2:42-47}
Therefore; we are Incorporated as a Not-For-Profit 501 (c)(3) Religious Corporation under the laws of the State of Kentucky.
